Ukraine’s air defenses destroy 70 drones from Iran’s second UAV shipment to Russia – Ihnat

Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defense units have destroyed about 70 drones from the second unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) shipment that Russia received from Iran and had been using to attack the territory of Ukraine over the past two weeks.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As you know, Russia has received the second shipment of drones. The first shipment included about 400 UAVs. We had four waves of attacks last week and the week before. About 70 UAVs were destroyed by the anti-aircraft defense units,” Ihnat told.

In his words, the enemy still has drones, and it is necessary to prepare and reinforce before the future drone attacks, which is especially important for critical infrastructure objects.

If the Iranian side, despite its promises, does not halt the supply of UAVs and other weapons for Russia, it is necessary to continue pressure on this country, Ihnat added.

A reminder that, between December 1, 2022 and December 20, 2022, Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defense units and Armed Forces shot down 67 Iranian-manufactured Shahed suicide drones.
