Russian fighter jet catches fire in Belarus – monitoring group

On December 25, the engine of a Russian MiG-31K fighter jet, which is capable of carrying Kindzhal hypersonic missiles, caught fire at the airfield in Machulishchy (Belarus).

"Belaruskiy Hajun monitoring group has the information that today, December 25, the engine of one of MiG-31K aircraft of the Russian Air Force caught fire at the airfield in Machulishchy," Belarusian monitoring group Belaruskiy Hajun posted on Telegram.

The fire broke out on aircraft with registration number RF-95194.

According to the group, the fighter jet will not be able to fly in the near future.

As reported, on December 13, 2022, three MiG-31K aircraft of the Russian Air Force flew to Machulishchy. This is the second rotation of this type of aircraft in Belarus.

Russia is actively using the territory of Belarus to prepare and wage its military aggression against Ukraine.
