Russian troops launched 40 missile strikes on Ukraine on Oct 22 - General Staff

Russian forces launched 40 cruise missiles and 16 Shahed-136 attack drones on targets in Ukraine on October 22, with Ukrainian defenders shooting down 20 missiles and 11 Shahed-136s.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its latest update posted on its Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.

According to the report, the enemy attacked energy and critical infrastructure in nine regions, in particular, the Volyn, Rivne, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

The General Staff also said that Russian forces had fired mortars and tanks at a number of settlements in the northeastern part of the country. Meanwhile, in the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy launched artillery fire outside the settlements of Vremivka in the Donetsk region, Dorozhnianka, Stepnohirsk, and Orikhiv in the Zaporizhia region, and Dobra Nadiia in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The enemy also launched a missile attack on the city of Nikopol.

Military and civilian infrastructure came under fire on the Southern Bug axis, and more than 20 settlements located near the contact line were also damaged by fire.

According to the General Staff, Russian units are being stationed in schools in the Zaporizhzhia region, simultaneously with the continuation of the educational process there. Separate units of Russian troops continue to leave the Kherson region, accompanied by cases of looting and robbery of local residents.

"According to the available information, the enemy has completely left the settlements of Charivne and Chkalove, and officers and medical personnel have been evacuated from Beryslav," the report said.
