U.S. expediting delivery of NASAMS to Ukraine as quickly as possible - White House

The United States is expediting delivery of two National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) to Ukraine as quickly as possible.

According to CNN, John Kirby, U.S. National Security Council communications coordinator, said this on Tuesday.

Kirby declined to provide a specific date for when the NASAMS systems would arrive, but said the U.S. was “certainly interested in expediting” the system quickly.

According to him, the first two systems will arrive in Ukraine “in the very near future”.

It’s the same system used to protect airspace in Washington, DC.

During a virtual meeting of the G7 earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told the meeting that "common efforts to create an air shield for Ukraine" must be intensified amid a barrage of Russian cruise missile and drone attacks.
