To date, a fifth of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated with unexploded ordnance.

"One-fifth of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated with mines, shells, aerial bombs that have not exploded. Since the beginning of the war, the explosive devices units of the State Emergency Service have already discovered, removed, and disposed of more than 180,000 explosive objects, an area of more than 68,000 hectares has been inspected. And this work stops not for a moment," First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin said during the national telethon.

As noted, mine clearance continues in the liberated territories.

"For example, the battles in Kyiv region lasted for about a month, and our explosive technicians have been clearing these territories of explosive objects for five months. For example, up to 1,000 explosive devices are still disposed of in Kyiv region per day, and more than 60,000 munitions have been disposed of during this period, and the work continues," Yenin said.
