White House announces allocation of new military assistance package for Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden issued a memorandum on the allocation of $550 million in new military assistance package for Ukraine.

The relevant document was published on the website of the White House on August 1, Ukrinform reports.

According to the document, President Biden delegates to the Secretary of State the authority “to direct the drawdown of up to $550 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Ukraine”.

The press release issued by the White House on the same day specifies that the new package includes “additional ammunition for the HIMARS and artillery systems that are making a difference on the battlefield”.
