Russia seeks to capture Siverodonetsk no matter own death toll - Haidai

The Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past day repulsed an enemy attack on Toshkivka, the settlement that is being massively pummeled by the invading troops.

The chief of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Haidai, delivered an update via Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy is pressing in Siverodonetsk. The storming of the city continues at the moment. Our military is defending. Orcs are burning down the villages of Hirska and Popasnyanska communities. Yesterday we repulsed another assault on Toshkivka, where destruction is increasing by the day, as is in Viktorivka, Novoivanivka, Vovchoyarivka, Nyrkovo, and other settlements. In Hirske alone, 12 households were hit throughout the day,” the statement reads.

The head of the Luhansk region emphasized that once the goal of the Russians was to capture the capital of Ukraine in three days. In almost four months, they dream merely to seize Siverodonetsk – without caring about own death toll. Meanwhile, of 100,000 inhabitants, only nearly 10,000 remained in town.

"The city is a key point in the defense operation system of Luhansk region. This was confirmed yesterday by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “The Russian army is losing hundreds of soldiers, then finding reserves and continuing to destroy Siverodonetsk. Yesterday they hit the territory of a fiberglass factory and a former measurements plant. Pavlograd and Synetsky suffered again," Serhiy Haidai stressed.
