Ukraine, France discuss situation on battlefield

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Republic General Thierry Burkhard have held a phone conversation.

The relevant statement was made by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I informed my counterpart about the current operational situation, emphasizing that hostilities are taking place in almost all directions. The most difficult situation is in Luhansk Region, where the enemy is trying to displace our units from their positions,” Zaluzhnyi noted.

In his words, operations are complex and require a combination of both defensive and offensive actions.

“However, the enemy has a decisive advantage in artillery, which raises the question of the earliest possible transition of our units to NATO type weapons. It will save the lives of our people and our territories,” Zaluzhnyi stressed.

In addition, Zaluzhnyi thanked Burkhard and the people of the French Republic for their help and support. He also expressed condolences over the death of French journalist Frédéric Leclerc in Russia’s shelling in Ukraine.
