Russian invaders open fire on 46 settlements in JFO area, killing at least 15 civilians

Russian invaders have opened fire on 46 settlements within the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area over the past day, leaving at least 15 civilians killed and seven injured.

The relevant statement was made by the Joint Forces Task Force on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“All over the defense line, the enemy is using combat aviation, multiple launch rocket systems, cannon artillery, tanks, mortar systems, launching missile and air strikes on civil infrastructure facilities, peaceful residential areas,” the report states.

Over the past day, Russian invaders have shelled 46 settlements in Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region. A total of 68 civilian objects were damaged and destroyed, including 43 residential houses, two schools, architectural lyceum, nursery school, clothing factory, railway station, cultural hall, boiler facility, power substation.

“As a result, at least 15 civilians were killed in shelling, including two families with underage children, and seven injured,” the Joint Forces Task Force noted.

On May 18, 2022, Ukrainian defenders from the Joint Forces Task Force repelled 16 enemy attacks. Battles are still raging within two more locations.

In the JFO area, the Ukrainian military destroyed eight Russian tanks, 17 armored fighting vehicles, four special armored vehicles and six motor vehicles.

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units shot down an enemy Su-34 fighter-bomber aircraft.
