Russian invaders have shelled a school in Avdiivka, Donetsk Region, with white phosphorus munitions, leaving it completely burnt down.

The relevant statement was made by Donetsk Regional Military Administration Head Pavlo Kyrylenko on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Russians have destroyed one more educational institution in Donetsk Region, Avdiivka-based school No. 1. Last night Russian troops shelled the school with the prohibited white phosphorus munitions. The school burnt down completely. Fortunately, no casualties were reported: there were only duty staff members inside the building, and they managed to escape,” Kyrylenko wrote.

In his words, more than 200 children attended Avdiivka-based school No.1 before the Russian invasion started.

“Guests often came here from all over the country and abroad. Now, it’s all ruins. There were neither servicemen nor military equipment at school. As usually, Russians are purposefully destroying civilian infrastructure,” Kyrylenko noted.

According to Kyrylenko, since February 24, 2022, Russian troops have damaged and destroyed 416 educational institutions in Donetsk Region, including 181 nursery schools, 191 secondary schools, 23 vocational schools and 21 universities and colleges.

“We will rebuild everything. And Russians will pay a heavy price,” Kyrylenko stressed.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching air and missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages, torturing and murdering civilians.
