No bonuses, veteran status for Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine - intel

Soldiers of Russia’s 47th Guards Tank Division who took part in Ukraine hostilities have not received the promised bonuses for their combat deployment.

This was reported on Facebook by the press service of the Ukrainian MoD’s Main Intelligence Directorate, as seen by Ukrinform.

“Russian servicemen with the Guards Tank Division who had been involved in the battles against Ukraine did not receive the promised bonuses. The last payments they obtained was a two-percent bonus to their allowance for pre-war ‘drills,’” the Ukrainian intelligence agency stated.

According to the available data, only those who were injured and treated in hospital can be granted veteran status in Russia. Soldiers are bombarding their command with appeals for both bonuses and status, but they are being ignored. As a result, the servicemen have neither the desire nor the incentive to return to the war zone, the Main Intelligence Directorate said.

Another reason for the refusal to participate in the war is the large number of bodies that are starting to arrive in Russia. The Russian command has ordered to transport them in small batches, hoping that this will help avoid discontent and resistance in some units, as well as panic among local communities.

According to the intelligence, provisions on consent to perform tasks in the areas of hostilities, regardless of their location, are part of the Russian military contract. Such conditions aim to prevent mass resignations over soldiers’ unwillingness to take part in combat missions in Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier wounded Russian soldiers are being persuaded to return to the war zones. To this end, anti-Western propaganda materials are being spread across Russian military medical facilities.
