Three killed as Russian forces shell town of Balakliia

Russian troops shelled the town of Balakliia in the Kharkiv region, killing three people.

The press service of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the investigation, on April 6, 2022, the servicemen of the Russian armed forces carried out fired from artillery at residential buildings in Balakliia, the Izium district. As a result, residential houses were partially destroyed. Three people were killed by shelling," the statement said.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, investigators of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) office in the Kharkiv region launched a pre-trial investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On February 24, Russia launched a new phase of the war against Ukraine. The invaders have been shelling and bombing peaceful cities, towns and villages in Ukraine, torturing and killing civilians.
