Ukrainian, Italian foreign ministers call for strengthening sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio are unanimous on the need to immediately strengthen sanctions against Russia.

According to Ukrinform, Kuleba said this in a statement posted on Twitter.

"Spoke with my Italian counterpart and friend Luigi Di Maio. We both share the urgency of elevating sanctions pressure on Russia to deprive it of the means to continue its barbaric war on Ukraine," Kuleba said.

He also thanked Italy for its comprehensive support of Ukraine at this critical time.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying infrastructure, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
