Seventy-one children evacuated abroad from orphanage in Sumy

Seventy-one children were evacuated abroad from an orphanage in Sumy city, northern Ukraine.

"We were hiding these children in bomb shelters for almost two weeks. Those, who can shelter them in a safe place, in another country, were found quickly, thank God. And with the first opportunity to evacuate through the humanitarian corridor, we took the children from a specialized orphanage out of the combat zone," Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyy posted on Telegram.

According to him, these are children who do not have parents (for various reasons) and most of them need constant medical care.

"We evacuated 71 children from Sumy. Some of them remain under the supervision of Borys Todurov's hospital specialists," Zhyvytskyy added.

As reported, UNICEF data indicate that about 1.5 million children have left Ukraine since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion.
