Canada to send anti-tank weapons to Ukraine

Canada will send a batch of anti-tank weapons to Ukraine to help the country defend itself against Russian aggression.

"Responding to Ukraine's request and in agreement with NATO, we will provide additional lethal assistance to Ukraine by sending 100 Carl-Gustaf anti-tank weapons systems and 2,000 rockets," Minister of National Defence of Canada Anita Anand said at a press conference in Ottawa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the minister, the weapons will be sent to Ukraine "as soon as possible, in the coming days."

The non-lethal aid to Ukraine announced by Canada yesterday is already on its way to Europe, while the second batch is expected in a week, Anand added.

On Sunday, Canada announced that it would send non-lethal military equipment worth more than CAD 25 million to Ukraine. The aid package includes body armour, helmets, gas masks, and night vision goggles.
