Apartment building damaged during Кussian offensive in spring 2022 restored in Bucha
According to Ukrinform, the head of the regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, announced this on Telegram.
"The building, which suffered severe destruction due to shelling, has now been fully restored and put back into operation," Kalashnyk said.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, parts of the walls and floors were destroyed, the attic and roof were damaged, interior premises and utility networks were ruined, and windows and doors were blown out. In effect, part of the building had to be rebuilt from scratch.
"Today, children's voices can once again be heard in the renovated apartments, residents are arranging their homes and making plans for the future. This is the best proof that the community is being revived," Kalashnyk said.
He noted that it is symbolic that just yesterday a veteran support center, "Veteran PRO," was opened in the same building – a hub to assist servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
"Where the enemy tried to sow fear and destruction, a place of strength, mutual support, and new opportunities is now being created. In total, 3,189 residential properties were damaged in the Bucha community – 2,728 private houses and 461 apartment buildings. As of today, 2,055 private homes and 331 apartment buildings have already been restored. Work continues daily," Kalashnyk said.
He stressed that the community's reconstruction is the result of joint efforts by the state, regional authorities, local self-government, and international partners. Funding has come from state, regional, and local budgets, as well as donor support. It is a shared responsibility and a shared achievement.
"Bucha is one of the communities that suffered the most during the occupation. The memory of the tragic months of 2022 will remain forever. At the same time, the community is confidently recovering. Together, we are restoring not only buildings – we are returning people to normal life," Kalashnyk added.
