Ukrhydroenergo receives EUR 50M from EBRD and Italy for hydropower plants restoration
This is said in a statement published on the company’s website, Ukrinform reports.
The funds were allocated in March 2025 as emergency liquidity support for the company. This initial EUR 50 million, part of a total EUR 200 million, will help bolster Ukrhydroenergo's financial stability under martial law, according to the company.
The funding is part of the hydropower plants emergency restoration project, aimed at rehabilitating Ukraine’s energy infrastructure damaged by Russia’s military aggression.
As reported, in December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal by the Ministry of Energy and Ukrhydroenergo to restore hydropower facilities damaged or destroyed by Russia’s armed aggression within two years.
In February 2024, Ukrhydroenergo signed a EUR 200 million loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Italian government as part of the hydropower plants emergency restoration project. Additionally, a guarantee agreement was signed between Ukraine, the EBRD, and the Italian government.
