South Korea to provide $20M grant to help rebuild frontline regions in Ukraine

South Korea, through UNDP in Ukraine, is providing a $20 million grant to help rebuild the Kherson, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions.

This was announced by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

The new project, launched in December 2024, is expected to be completed in December 2025. The total budget exceeds $20 million. The Ministry for Development is overseeing its implementation in collaboration with the military administrations of the Kherson, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Local self-government bodies at the regional and community levels are actively engaged in the process.

The project's three primary strategic areas are as follows: enhancing the capacity of local governments to respond effectively to humanitarian needs, primarily in the provision of critical services; restoration and repair of critical infrastructure systems in the energy, water, and wastewater sectors, and waste management; and safe disposal of debris and other explosive objects.
