
Halushchenko, Brink discuss participation of U.S. business in reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy sector

The sides discussed cooperation in the process of restoring and developing the Ukrainian energy sector, particularly with the participation of the U.S. business.
Halushchenko noted that nuclear generation remains fundamental for Ukraine and ensures the stability of electricity supply to consumers even amid Russian attacks.
“The development of nuclear energy is crucial for Ukraine’s energy security and independence, and the participation of American partners in implementing relevant projects is extremely important,” the minister emphasized.
The Minister of Energy also pointed out that Russia continues its attacks on power transmission and distribution system facilities, including substations.
He briefed the U.S. side on the energy sector’s needs and highlighted the critical importance of air defense systems for protecting energy facilities.
Halushchenko thanked the U.S. for the support provided to the Ukrainian energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The sides also discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in early December 2024 between the governments of Ukraine and the U.S. regarding cooperation to ensure the resilience of Ukraine's energy system.
Brink noted the prospects for developing Ukrainian-American cooperation at the business level and emphasized the importance of continuing corporate governance reform in Ukrainian energy companies.
