The loan of the International Monetary Fund will allow increasing the foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine up to USD 12 billion.

Head of the Government Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this during the TV program "10 minutes with Prime Minister", Ukrinform news agency reported.

"In February, the National Bank's gold reserves amounted to USD 5.6 billion. And the amount of funds allocated by the IMF will help increase the foreign exchange reserves of the NBU up to USD 12 billion," he said.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the increase in the amount of foreign exchange reserves would stabilize the hryvnia exchange rate and normalize the work of the banking system.

As it was reported, on July 31, the International Monetary Fund approved the allocation of the second tranche worth USD 1.7 billion to Ukraine.
