Polish journalists call on Russia to immediately release Sushchenko

The Press Freedom Monitoring Center of the Association of Polish Journalists (SDP) is protesting against the extension of the arrest in Russia of Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko and calls on the Russian authorities to release the Ukrainian journalist.

This is said in a statement by the SDP released on Wednesday.

"The Press Freedom Monitoring Center of the Association of Polish Journalists strongly protests against the extension of the arrest for another two months in Moscow of journalist of the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform Roman Sushchenko on charges of espionage and calls on the Russian authorities to drop charges against the journalist and immediately release him," the SDP said.

The Polish journalists also call on international organizations to take steps that will facilitate the release of Sushchenko and other Ukrainian journalists who are being held in Russia and in the territories occupied by Russia.
