Presidential Administration: Poroshenko’s telephone conversation with Putin end without any agreements

Amid the escalation of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held two telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss termination of shelling of Avdiivka and release of hostages, including Ukrinform journalist Roman Sushchenko.

Ukrinform learnt this from the press service of the Administration of the President of Ukraine on Thursday.

"Amid the escalation of hostilities in Donbas, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held two telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to stop ongoing attacks on Avdiivka and restore the power supply to the town, as well as to free hostages, including Oleg Sentsov and Roman Sushchenko," the statement reads.

As noted, the telephone conversations were held in coordination with the European partners under the "Normandy format."

The press service of the Presidential Administration noted that the talks ended without any agreements.
