Ukrainian tennis star Lesia Tsurenko, 33, decided not to play against the world’s second-ranked Arina Sabalenka of Belarus at a WTA’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (USA) with an $8.8 million prize fund.

The organizers announced the decision made by the Ukrainian athlete just a few minutes before the match was scheduled to start, Ukrinform reports, referring to BTU.

The Ukrainian retired “for personal reasons,” the tournament’s management reported.
