Guttsayt becomes new president of Ukraine's National Olympic Committee

Vadym Guttsayt has been elected the new president of Ukraine's National Olympic Committee.

According to Ukrinform, 123 voters voted for his candidacy at the 37th assembly of the committee on Thursday, November 17.

Twenty-two people supported Zhan Beleniuk, and two votes were cast for Ihor Malynskyi.

Former NOC President Serhiy Bubka, who had headed the committee since 2005, refused to run for the post this year.

Guttsayt is an Olympic fencing champion at the 1992 Games in Barcelona, coach and president of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation. In 2018, he was appointed the director of the Department of Youth and Sports at Kyiv City State Administration. Since March 4, 2020, he had served as Ukraine's minister of youth and sports.
