Russian aviation fires on industrial facilities in depths of Ukraine

The army of the Russian Federation used aircraft to fire on the Eastern Operational Zone and the industrial facilities in the depths of Ukraine.

“As of 06:00 on May 16, the enemy does not stop conducting offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone. The enemy focused its main efforts on Donetsk direction. In Slobozhansky direction, it tries to deter the offensive of Ukraine’s Defense Forces north of the city of Kharkiv and prevent them from reaching the state border of Ukraine. The enemy is preparing an offensive by forces amassed in the area of Izium,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted on Facebook.

Moreover, Russian aircraft fired on civilian and military infrastructure in the Eastern Operational Zone and industrial facilities in the depths of Ukraine.

In Volyn and Polissya directions, the enemy did not take active action. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus (up to seven battalions) continue to guard the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

In Siversky direction, the enemy tightened control over the Ukrainian-Russian border in Bryansk and Kursk regions and conducts demonstrative activities to keep the units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in this direction and prevent them from being transferred to the Eastern Operational Zone.

In Kharkiv direction, the enemy focuses its main efforts on holding its positions and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops towards the Ukraine–Russia state border.

The enemy did not conduct active hostilities in Slovyansk direction.

The Russian military fired artillery on civilian infrastructure in the area of Dovhenke, Ruski Tyshki, Ternova, and Petrivka localities. The enemy conducted air reconnaissance with Orlan-10 UAV.

In Donetsk direction, the Russian army fired from the full range of available weapons including aircraft to exhaust the personnel and destroy the fortifications of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Lyman, Bakhmut, and Kurakhove directions, the enemy continues to advance. Fighting continue.

In Avdiivka direction, the enemy suffered losses and retreated to the previously captured positions.

In Sievierodonetsk and Novopavlivsk directions, the enemy did not conduct active hostilities and tried to fire on the Ukrainian positions.

In Mariupol, the enemy continues massive artillery and air strikes. The main efforts of the Russian army were focused on blocking and eliminating Ukrainian units in the area of ​​the Azovstal steelworks.

In the Southern Buh direction, the enemy did not conduct active hostilities, fired on the Armed Forces of Ukraine from artillery and mortars.

Ukraine’s defense forces struck the enemy positions near the village of Chornobaivka. The enemy manpower and hardware losses are being specified.

Over the past day, the air defense units of the Land Forces and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine downed 11 enemy air targets: two helicopters (Ka-52 and Mi-28), seven operational and tactical UAVs, and two cruise missiles.

Seventeen enemy attacks were repulsed in Donetsk and Luhansk directions over the past 24 hours. Three enemy tanks, one artillery system, six armored personnel vehicles, and a vehicle were destroyed. The Russian manpower losses are being clarified.
