The head of state said this on Friday, September 17, at a meeting with representatives of the National Paralympic team of Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Maksym Krypak was a shining star at the Games in Tokyo. Our Ukrainian swimmer won seven medals. This is a great result. He improved the record set 11 years ago and was recognized as the best athlete of the 16th Paralympic Games," Zelensky said.
Krypak won five gold medals, a silver and a bronze at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Krypak sealed five gold and three silver medals.
