Tsurenko beats Gavrilova to reach Mexico Open final

Ukraine's second seed Lesia Tsurenko is successfully defending her title as the winner of the Mexico Open in Acapulco ($250,000 prize pool).

In the semifinal game played early on Saturday, Tsurenko (No. 40 in the WTA Ranking) defeated Australia's Daria Gavrilova (No. 26 in the WTA Ranking) 6-2, 6-4 and reached the final of the tournament, Ukrinform reports.

In the decisive match, the tournament's seventh seed, Tsurenko, will face Swiss Stefanie Voegele (No. 183 in the WTA Ranking). 

In last year's WTA final in Acapulco, Tsurenko beat French Kristina Mladenovic 6-1, 7-5.
