Svitolina loses to Mertens in Australian Open quarterfinals

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has failed to reach the semifinals of the Australian 2018 tennis tournament in Melbourne (a total prize fund of $43 million).
Svitolina, 23, lost to Belgium's Elise Mertens 4-6, 0-6 on Rod Laver Arena, Ukrinform reports.
The match lasted one hour and 14 minutes.
In the semifinals of the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year, Mertens will face the winner of a tie between Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark and Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain.
