Ukrinform
Ukraine's top seeded tennis player and world No. 4 Elina Svitolina has successfully qualified for the next round of the Australian Open 2018 in Melbourne, with $43 million in prize money.
The Ukrainian continued her performance at the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over world No. 59 Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, Ukrinform reports.
For a spot in the fourth round of the competition, Svitolina will face her compatriot, 15-year-old Marta Kostyuk, who defeated Australian Olivia Rogowska 6-3, 7-5.
Svitolina repeated her best achievement at the Australian Open, where she progressed to the third round of the tournament in 2014-2015 and 2017.
The tournament's youngest player this year, Kostyuk, in turn, became the first player born in 2002 to ever compete in a Grand Slam tournament.
