President Poroshenko congratulates Ukrainian soldiers on winning Marine Corps Marathon medals

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has congratulated ten Ukrainian servicemen, who were wounded in the ATO area in eastern Ukraine, on winning the medals at the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.

"I congratulate our soldiers on a wonderful result at the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon. The Ukrainian team won ten medals. We are proud of you!" the Ukrainian Head of State wrote on Twitter.

As reported, ten Ukrainian soldiers, who were wounded in the ATO area in eastern Ukraine and now undergo rehabilitation, ran 10km race and a marathon distance of 42.195 km at the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. on Sunday.

The Ukrainian team took part in the legendary race for the second consecutive year.

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) was established in 1976 and is currently the fourth largest marathon in the United States and the ninth largest in the world as more than 30,000 representatives from more than 50 countries officially participate in it.
