Poroshenko presents awards to Ukraine's Invictus Games participants
He stated this on October 3 during a ceremony to present state awards to Ukrainian veterans of the national team who took part in the Invictus Games competition in Toronto, Canada.
"In such a short time, you have become such a powerful team - very coherent. You trust each other. I think that this should be a symbol for the whole of Ukraine, which also now, more than ever, needs unity," Poroshenko said.
The president said that "when there is unity, there are victories, and when there is trust, there is unity" and thanked the Ukrainian team for their wonderful performance.
The head of state presented the Order of Merit (1st degree) to Pavlo Budayevsky, the Order of Merit (3rd degree) to Oleh Zimnikov, Pavlo Mamontov, Roman Panchenko, Vasyl Pashkevych, Oleksandr Pysarenko, Valeriy Rak, Vadym Svyrydenko, Dmytro Sydoruk, Oleksandr Tkachenko, Serhiy Torchynsky, and Serhiy Shevchuk. The Order of Princess Olga (3rd degree) was awarded to Kateryna Mykhailova.
The coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team and the organizers of the Invictus Games competition who supported the team were also given state awards.
