Ukrainian athletes win over 3,500 medals in 2016

Ukrainian athletes have won over 3,500 high awards at the international competitions this year.
Youth and Sports Minister of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov said this at a Ministry’s board meeting today, the press service reports.
"Some people say our team did not succeed at the Olympics 2016. However, I am grateful for each of eleven Olympic medals. Each award is our common victory, the success of the whole of Ukraine," Zhdanov said.
Representatives of non-Olympic sports have won 2,641 medals, including 800 gold ones, in the international competitions.
In addition, Ukrainian athletes won 477 medals, including 203 gold ones, at Paralympics 2016.
