Students from Mariupol city study and rest in Bavaria, Germany
This study trip is a part of Ukrainian-German Europeans for peace project and it was made possible through the financial support from organizations and individuals in Germany who want to help Ukrainian children, reports the Ukrinform's own correspondent in Germany.
"When the city of Mariupol became known around the world through news due to attacks by Russia, it was decided to take students away from the war zone," said the project proponent Father Taddeus Schreiber, the manager of Ettal boarding school.
The implementation of the training project between two schools Second Mariupol gymnasium and Ettal Gymnasium was taken over by the Germans who consider the misfortune in Ukraine as if it were their own. Over 65,000 Euros were raised by funds, philanthropists, individuals, businesses, Ettal Benedictine monastery, its boarding school at the monastery to support the initiative of teachers. The idea was to enable Ukrainian children to live through their "winter war" in an atmosphere of good understanding and peace.
Ukrainian-German project Europeans for Peace is, first of all, participation of caring people from Germany, Austria who are concerned about the fate of the children who have been living in the situations of danger, anxiety, restlessness, and now - war for about a year. This is their manifestation of compassion, indifference demonstrated by a civilized nation to Ukraine that is under attack.
"At this time when Russia is sending its tanks into our land, Grad rocket systems, Buk rockets and other deadly weapons, the civilized Europe offers her shoulders to support, help Ukrainians financially and morally to withstand the attacks," the mentors of students said.
