Kyiv City Council observes a minute of silence in tribute to memory of His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar

The Kyiv City Council has observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of ex-head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar.

The ceremony took place today during the meeting of the Kyiv City Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I propose to observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar, the person who was not only a spiritual leader for hundreds of thousands of Greek Catholics but also a moral authority for millions of Ukrainians," Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said.

As reported, Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, retired major archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, died at the age of 84 on May 31.
