Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada Andrii Plakhotniuk held a meeting with Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Plakhotniuk shared details of the meeting on his Facebook page.

“Our discussion focused on strengthening the partnership between our sister cities – Toronto and Kyiv – and explored new practical ways to deepen cooperation in support of Ukraine’s resilience and recovery in the face of Russia’s ongoing full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine,” Plakhotniuk said.

He added that he thanked Mayor Chow for her “consistent and principled support of Ukraine and for her strong engagement with the Ukrainian community in Toronto.”

“We highly value the humanitarian assistance provided by the City of Toronto to Kyiv, including the transfer of essential equipment such as vehicles and generators, which directly support civilians under challenging conditions this past winter,” the Ambassador noted.

Plakhotniuk emphasized that “Toronto’s leadership in standing with Kyiv is a powerful example of meaningful municipal-level cooperation.”

“As Ukraine moves forward with recovery and rebuilding, we see strong potential to further expand and deepen this partnership,” the diplomat concluded.
