710,000 people remain without electricity in Kyiv - Shmyhal

Ukrinform
As of the evening of January 27, 710,000 people in Kyiv remain without electricity.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Facebook.

He said that energy companies reported on the situation at a regular meeting of the Headquarters.

"There are currently 710,000 consumers without electricity in Kyiv. We understand that living in uncertainty without clear schedules is exhausting. The immediate task for specialists is to get back to the predicted schedules," Shmyhal said.

He stressed that all necessary assistance from the state has been provided.

"The headquarters is in constant contact and close coordination with energy companies and the city. At the same time, we must be honest. The energy system has been damaged unevenly, so in the first weeks, while restoration is underway, schedules in different energy nodes may vary. This will depend on the capacity of the networks in a particular area," Shmyhal said.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the restoration process is ongoing.

"At the same time, we are working on systemic solutions – cogeneration, simplification of connections, construction of new lines. We are completing the verification of existing cogeneration plants in the capital. The priority is their stable operation and maximum supply of electricity to the grid. This will allow us to partially cover consumer needs and strengthen the capital's energy security," Shmyhal said.

As reported by Ukrinform, hot water supply is temporarily limited in Kyiv in order to restore centralized heating in some residential buildings.
