Coordination Headquarters: Youngest Ukrainian returned from Belarus on Saturday is 25 years old
Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"As a result of prior agreements and successful negotiations with the Belarusian side, at the request and with the assistance of American partners and the work of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Ukraine received 114 civilians, including Ukrainians who were held in the Republic of Belarus. The youngest released Ukrainian is 25 years old. His wife was returned during a previous release," the statement said.
All released individuals are civilians who had been detained in Belarus and accused of working for Ukrainian intelligence.
Among those released are Belarusian citizens imprisoned for political reasons and serving long sentences. Notable Belarusian public and political figures include Maria Aleksandrova, Viktar Babaryka, journalist Maryna Zolatava, and others. After receiving necessary medical assistance and according to their wishes, the released Belarusian citizens will be transported to Poland and Lithuania.
"We express our gratitude to the United States and President Donald Trump for their fruitful work in returning civilian and military Ukrainians from Belarus and Russia. We also thank all involved state agencies for their assistance and joint efforts," the Coordination Headquarters added.
On November 22, Ukraine returned 31 civilians from Belarus.
