Lithuania will provide physical and psychosocial rehabilitation for Ukrainian children who have been freed from Russian occupation, the Lithuanian Health Ministry said.

That is according Delfi, Ukrinform reports.

According to the ministry, more than 300 children will receive assistance over the next two years. The program is aimed at children who have suffered physical, psychological, and emotional trauma.

"This initiative is Lithuania's proposal and an expression of our solidarity with Ukraine. We see the painful traces of [Russia's] war crimes against children and feel a moral obligation to help those who were abducted and traumatized. We want Lithuania to become a place where they can find peace, trust, and hope. Rehabilitation in Lithuanian medical institutions is the least we can do to support these children," Lithuanian Health Minister Marija Jakubauskiene said.

The project is being implemented in close cooperation with Ukrainian healthcare, child protection and welfare institutions, as well as the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine.

As reported earlier, new radiation shelters have been opened in schools in the Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Zhytomyr regions through cooperation with the Lithuanian government and the national fundraising platform United24.
