European institutions' buildings illuminated in blue and yellow colors on eve of Ukraine's Independence Day

On the evening of August 23, on the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine, the building of the European Council in Brussels was illuminated in blue and yellow colors.

The President of the European Council, António Costa, announced this on the X social network, Ukrinform reports.

"Dear people of Ukraine, Tonight, the Europa Building shines in your national colours — blue and yellow — as a symbol of our steadfast support for you. On the eve of your Independence Day, we pay tribute to your courage, your resilience, and your European future," he stated.

The headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels also shone in blue and yellow colors.

"Ukraine can always count on Europe. On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, we have illuminated our headquarters, Berlaymont. In a tribute to the courage, pain, and hope of a nation walking a hard road. We are together in building a brighter future," the European Commission wrote on the X social media on Saturday evening. 

As reported by Ukrinform, on Sunday, August 24, Ukraine celebrates the 34th anniversary of the declaration of independence.
