Court extends Kolomoisky's detention in contract killing case
Court spokesperson Mariia Pylaieva confirmed the decision in a comment to Ukrinform.
She stated that on April 2, investigating judge Serhii Vovk granted the prosecution's motion to extend Kolomoisky's detention until May 8.
On May 8, 2024, law enforcement charged Kolomoisky with organizing the attempted murder of a legal company director back in 2003.
According to the investigation, Kolomoisky allegedly hired a gang specializing in violent crimes to eliminate a business competitor.
The attack took place in downtown Feodosia, Crimea, as the victim was leaving a store. Four gang members ambushed him, striking him on the head with a metal rod and stabbing him multiple times in the chest, abdomen, and back. However, thanks to immediate medical intervention, the victim survived.
All four assailants were later arrested and sentenced to prison.
Based on newly uncovered evidence, Kolomoisky now faces the possibility of a life sentence if convicted.
