Netflix co-founder donates USD 2M to help Ukraine

That is according to Deadline, Ukrinform reports.

The charity is led by American veterans in the U.S., while in Ukraine, it operates under the name Leleka-Ukraine. The organization has been working in Ukraine since the Russian invasion started in February 2022.

The funds will be used to purchase anti-drone jamming systems and other types of aid for combat medics along the frontline. Each system costs up to $6,000.

White Stork is also the largest charity provider of individual first-aid kits in Ukraine, delivering over 120,000 battlefield kits since the start of the war. The organization also provides other critical supplies, including demining equipment, bulletproof blankets, trench shovels, and bulletproof vests.

William McNulty, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who is White Stork’s head of mission, said: “The men and women fighting in Ukraine are not professional soldiers. They are civilians who have been thrust into this war for national survival. As veterans, we’ve seen the horrors of war and know how to deliver aid directly to the front. No middlemen, no BS. Reed’s gift to support Ukraine means their survival.”

This is Hastings' second donation to aid the people of Ukraine. Two years ago, he donated $1 million to the charitable organization Razom for Ukraine.

Earlier, Timothy Garton Ash, a British historian, journalist, and author, donated the $50,000 prize he received for his book to support Ukrainian military needs.
