Ukraine marks Constitution Day today

Ukrinform
On June 28, Ukraine marks its public holiday, Constitution Day.

For two years in a row, Ukraine has been marking Constitution Day under martial law, which was introduced due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

On June 28, 1996, at 09:18 a.m., after about a day of continuous work, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted and enacted the Constitution of Ukraine.

This event was preceded by a six-year period of hard work, consultations, crises and agreements.

The adoption of the Constitution laid down the legal basis of independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity; became a landmark in ensuring human and citizen rights; furthered the improvement of Ukraine’s image in the international arena.
