In Ukraine, the quarantine and state of emergency related to the coronavirus pandemic will end on July 1.

"From July 1, we end the quarantine and state of emergency related to the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 has become a difficult test for Ukrainians. All our decisions all this time were aimed at saving people's lives," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, during the pandemic, the authorities worked out response mechanisms that came in handy during the full-scale war. "Now we are responding to new challenges, armed with new methods and approaches. I thank the medics who have been fighting selflessly the pandemic all these years and have done everything possible to minimize its consequences," the Head of Government said.

He noted that nowadays doctors and nurses no less heroically help defenders and civilians in conditions of full-scale war.

As reported, more than 5.5 million coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On May 5, the World Health Organization said that COVID-19 no longer qualifies as a global emergency.
