France sends new humanitarian aid to Kherson region

The French Embassy in Ukraine told Ukrinform that the solidarity operation was organized by the Crisis Assistance and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

"The first shipment was sent on June 9 to ensure the immediate delivery of about ten tons of equipment, on June 14 and 15 new convoys left France... Charge d'Affaires of France in Ukraine Benjamin Röhrig will hand over part of this aid to representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Health on June 16 in Kherson," the diplomatic mission said.

French diplomats reported that the Crisis Assistance Center of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has transferred a total of 500,000 water purification tablets, 40 water storage tanks, 405 water purifiers, 200 motor pumps (including 100 floating ones), 20 inflatable boats, 520 waterproof overalls and 2,000 hygiene kits to the victims.

Several French fire and rescue agencies provided nearly 100 more waterproof overalls, 10 motorized pumps, 77 life jackets, five inflatable boats and 13 metal-hulled boats.

In addition, "Electrical Workers Without Borders" provided six generators with a total capacity of 250 kVA, which provide electricity to about 45 houses and two community centers.

According to the Embassy, Charge d'Affaires of France in Ukraine will hand over five mobile drinking water purification units and six flexible water storage tanks to the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Health today.

The humanitarian operation is supported by the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism, the diplomatic mission said.

As reported, 16 EU countries have joined in providing emergency assistance to Ukraine to overcome the consequences of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion.

At night on June 6, the Russian army blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. Rescue operations and measures to overcome the consequences of this crime are underway in the Kherson region.

Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation into the occupiers' explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant under the article "ecocide."

Ukrhydroenergo stated that Kakhovka HPP was completely destroyed and cannot be restored.
