Over 43,000 e-prescriptions issued in Ukraine over past week amid new pharmacy rules

Since early April, more than 43,000 electronic prescriptions for medicines have been issued across Ukraine.

This was reported by the Health Ministry press service, Ukrinform reports.

"Since the start of April, a digital version has been added to the usual paper prescription, so all prescription drugs can now be purchased with both paper and electronic prescription. Ukrainians are actively using the new service: in the first week, more than 43,000 e-prescriptions were issued," the report reads.

As reported earlier, since April 1, prescription drugs can be purchased at Ukrainian pharmacies with an electronic prescription.

From August 1, 2022, an electronic prescription was introduced for antibiotics, and from November 1 – for narcotic (psychotropic) drugs. As of March 2023, a total of 691,936 electronic prescriptions have been issued for antibacterial drugs and 20,118 – for narcotic (psychotropic) drugs.

While citing and using any materials on the Internet, links to the website ukrinform.net not lower than the first paragraph are mandatory. In addition, citing the translated materials of foreign media outlets is possible only if there is a link to the website ukrinform.net and the website of a foreign media outlet. Materials marked as "Advertisement" or with a disclaimer reading "The material has been posted in accordance with Part 3 of Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Advertising" No. 270/96-VR of July 3, 1996 and the Law of Ukraine "On the Media" No. 2849-Х of March 31, 2023 and on the basis of an agreement/invoice.
