The German Bundestag recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

As an Ukrinform correspondent reports, the resolution was adopted by a majority vote, without count, by a show of hands.

Four factions voted in favor of the resolution. The Left and Alternative for Germany abstained.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Bundestag members for the historic decision to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

"Germany recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide. I thank the members of the Bundestag for this historic decision. Truth always wins," Zelensky posted on Twitter.

Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, also thanked the Bundestag for this decision.

"The Holodomor of 1932-1933 was genocide. I thank the Bundestag – this is historical justice recognized by the world. We also know the nation responsible for the crime," he emphasized.
