Today, Ukrainian culture and language are on the front line of a brutal war today, says Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.

The minister made the relevant statement on Telegram November 9, the day Ukraine marks Language Day, Ukrinform reports.

Also, Tkachenko congratulated culture and folk art professionals with their professional holiday, celebrated on the same day.

"There is deep symbolism in the fact that we celebrate these two holidays at the same time. Language is not only a means of communication, but also a natural reservoir of information about the world, primarily about its people, as well as about its culture. Today, our culture and language are on the front lines of a brutal war. Ukrainians defend their national identity, which the enemy shamefully and stubbornly denies," Tkachenko noted.

The minister also read out a greeting address from President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Tkachenko noted that in addition to the fact that 40% of the state budget for the next year is aimed at covering Ukraine’s defense costs, the ministry managed to save some funding for the cultural and informational front.

In particular, the budget is allocated to the Ukrainian Cultural Fund and Ukrainian Book Institute.

As reported, November 9 is the Day of Writing and Language in Ukraine.
