Fierce battles have been raging near Lysychansk Oil Refinery in recent days.

The relevant statement was made by Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksii Hromov during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The enemy continues to focus efforts on conducting hostilities in the east of our state. During fierce battles, the enemy managed to gain control over Sievierodonetsk, Voronove and Borivske. Our units withdrew and gained a foothold on the right bank of the Siverskyi Donets. In the course of battles, the enemy suffered significant losses but continues attempts to gain control near Lysychansk. In recent days, fierce battles have been raging near Lysychansk Oil Refinery,” Hromov told.

In his words, this morning Russian troops have started to conduct assault operations in different directions. Battles are raging, but the enemy has not achieved any success so far.

“In the Bakhmut direction, fierce battles are raging. Having an advantage in terms of manpower and means, especially artillery, in order to restrain our units, the enemy conducted assault operations in the direction of Soledar near Klynove, as well as Novoluhanske Thermal Power Plant. The enemy had no success in these areas,” Hromov noted.

According to Hromov, the Ukrainian forces are keeping the defense bravely and firmly.
