Important to find means to convey truth to Russians - Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine believes that it is important to find tools to convey truthful information to Russians because they have no trust in Ukrainian media.

The head of state made this clear in an interview with journalists on June 6, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I don’t think that even when you and I send certain signals, sometimes in Russian or English, those people in the Russian Federation who are already facing a wall get any understanding. I believe that they can understand something on their own and reach conclusions when people they trust reach out to them. I don't see that Russians trust the Ukrainian media and I don't see that they trust President of Ukraine. For them, I'm a completely alien person. I believe that there are tools to convey information to them, they are very complex, this is one of the most difficult tasks we need to work on," said the president.

He added that he doesn’t yet see a comprehensive solution to the issue. At the same time, he noted that there will be a free niche in the information space abroad after the EU imposed sanctions and banned broadcasts of a number of Russian TV channels.

"When they (TV channels - ed.) shut down, their audience will look for Russian-language information, it is very important that this free space be occupied by trustworthy channels," the president said, adding that these could be new opportunities for Ukrainian TV channels and bloggers.
