Global interest in Ukraine war may slide, Zelensky admits

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggests that in the near future, international interest in the situation in Ukraine will be on decline, therefore the government and journalists must work together to make sure the war is not forgotten in other countries.

The Ukrainian leader made the comment in an interview with journalists on June 6, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"There is a new wave today, but there will be a decline in interest in Ukraine because there are many different problems in the world besides Ukraine. Here we need to think before we act of what we can do together thanks to your connections, your daily work, what scheme we should create for this daily marathon to continue… to increase the world's engagement with Ukraine," Zelensky said.

He noted that even in Kyiv, some people have already started to believe that the war is somewhere far away. "There’s such a sense in the air. I don’t want to be judgemental, but in fact, I should say that such a situation exists, and if it exists in our country’s capital, which used to be occupied and blocked, together with the region, on the one hand, recently, but on the other hand, people forget very quickly, because they want to live on," the president said, adding that in countries that know about the war only from the news, everything will be forgotten even faster.

The president thanked the media for their work during these difficult 103 days of the full-scale Russian invasion and for informing Ukrainians and the world about the developments in the country.
